In January 2009, he returned to the slopes after recovering from a torn ACL and partial ligament tear in his left knee, which he sustained during the World Championships in Val d'Isere, France, in 2009. This marked his sixth knee surgery.

Hudec's most notable achievement to date is winning the silver medal in the Men's Downhill event at the 2007 World Championships held in Örе, Sweden. Throughout his career, Hudec has also won his first World Cup in the Men's Downhill event in Lake Louise, Canada, in November 2007.
