Early Life and Musical BeginningsBorn into a Polish naval family, Janick Gers inherited a deep passion for music. His first musical endeavor was with the renowned group White Spirit.
Collaboration with Ian Gillan
After White Spirit, Gers joined Ian Gillan's self-titled band, formed by the legendary Deep Purple vocalist. When Gillan returned to his former group, the ensemble disbanded.
Joining Gogmagog
Undeterred, Gers joined Gogmagog, a band featuring former Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Di'Anno and drummer Clive Burr. He also briefly contributed to Marillion.
A Definitive Shift: Iron Maiden
In 1990, Gers played guitar on Bruce Dickinson's (Iron Maiden vocalist) solo album, "Tattooed Millionaire." During this recording session, he was invited to audition for Iron Maiden, where he replaced Adrian Smith.
