She is known for being the first Filipino to reach the finals of 'American Idol' and for finishing in third place. Trias was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and grew up in Mililani Town. She was the eldest daughter in her family, who had immigrated to Hawaii from Cavite. Trias attended the prestigious Maryknoll High School in Honolulu, as well as a Roman Catholic Sunday school.

Early Success
Even while in high school, Trias showed her talent and passion for singing. In 2001, she won the 'Brown Bags to Stardom', a singing competition for high school students, and in 2003, she emerged as the winner of the 'Road to Fame' talent competition. In June 2004, Trias successfully graduated from Maryknoll High School.

Rise to Fame
After her success in local competitions, Trias participated in the reality TV show 'Extra Challenge' on GMA Network. Her teammates were the world-renowned Miss World contestant from the Philippines, Ruffa Gutierrez, and former MTV VJ Donita Rose. Trias gained a strong following in her home state of Hawaii, with Deputy Mayor Ben Lee commenting, "Jasmine could have easily become a governor or mayor because she has a lot of fans."

Musical Career
Trias has often been compared to artists like Michelle Branch and Vanessa Carlton in terms of her musical style and creativity. She signed a contract with Clockwork Entertainment to record her debut album. Clockwork Entertainment had previously worked with 'Dream' and 'Bad Boy Records'. Trias also signed a contract with Universal Records to release her album in the Philippines. Her self-titled debut album was released on July 12, 2005, in the United States. It sold 14,000 copies within the U.S. and 50,000 worldwide. In the Philippines, the album achieved platinum status, and Trias became a headline performer on tours in Manila, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Guam in 2004. She later toured in the Philippines, earning the nickname 'Jasmania'.
Continued Success
Trias decided to end her contract with Clockwork Entertainment due to limited promotion and began working exclusively with Universal Records in the Philippines. Her songs 'Excuses', 'Sana Lagi', 'Too Many Walls', and 'DJ Don't Quit' topped the charts on the internet radio station 'Idol Waves'. Trias also became a participant in a show where musical numbers, celebrity parodies, comedy skits, and impersonations were performed.
