Biography of Jason Saul

Jason Saul is an American social entrepreneur, author, and speaker. He is currently a professor of social entrepreneurship at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He is the founder of 'Mission Measurement', a firm that specializes in social impact issues. Saul's first book, 'Benchmarking for Nonprofits', won the Benjamin Franklin Award for Best Business Book of the Year in 2005.

Early Life and Education

Jason Saul was born on June 14, 1969, in Chicago, Illinois. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in French Literature and Management from Cornell University in 1991. Saul then went on to receive a Master of Public Policy degree from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government in 1993. He later earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1996.

Saul's career began at the law firm 'Mayer Brown', but he soon ventured into the field of social entrepreneurship. In 1994, he founded 'The Center for What Works', a non-profit organization focused on strategic marketing research. Saul is also the founder and CEO of 'Mission Measurement' and 'MM Capital Advisors', an investment company.

Saul is best known for his work in measuring social impact and providing consulting services to corporations, non-profit organizations, and foundations. His clients include Walmart, Starbucks, McDonald's, Kraft, Levi Strauss & Co., Easter Seals, and many others. He has given numerous speeches and lectures on topics such as corporate social responsibility and public-private partnerships.

Books and Achievements

Saul has written three books and numerous articles on social strategy and measurement. In October 2010, his book 'Social Innovation, Inc.: Five Strategies to Drive Business Value through Social Change' was published by Jossey-Bass. The book explores how businesses can achieve success by driving social change.

In March 2011, Saul released another book titled 'The End of Fundraising: How to Raise More by Selling Your Impact'. This book presents alternative methods for achieving goals without relying solely on fundraising.

Saul is a faculty member at the Kellogg School of Management, where he teaches courses on corporate social responsibility and non-profit management. He also serves at The Center for Corporate Citizenship at Boston College, a center that helps leaders, managers, and employees promote positive corporate citizenship in their organizations.

Saul has been recognized for his leadership and public service. He received the Harry S. Truman Scholarship for leadership and public service in 1989. In 2002, he was selected as a member of 'Leadership Greater Chicago', a non-profit organization that promotes business development in Chicago. In 2008, 'Crain's Chicago Business' named Saul one of the top business leaders in Chicago. In 2011, 'Businessweek Magazine' named him one of the 25 most promising social entrepreneurs in the United States.
