Javier Zanetti was a renowned Argentinian footballer who excelled as both a defender and a midfielder. He captained both the Argentina national team and Italian club Inter Milan.
Early Career and Recognition
Zanetti made his national team debut on November 24, 1994, against Chile. He went on to become Argentina's most capped player, amassing 118 appearances. In 2004, Pelé named Zanetti to FIFA's list of the 100 greatest living players.
Inter Milan: A Legacy
Zanetti's transfer from Banfield to Inter Milan in 1995 marked the first acquisition under new club owner Massimo Moratti. In 1999, he succeeded Giuseppe Bergomi as captain, becoming the first foreign player to reach the milestone of 400 appearances in the Serie A.
Argentina's Record-Breaker
