Early Life and Career

French publicist and writer Capou de Feuillide wrote several popular history books, including "Le Midi en 1815" (1836), "Le Château de Ham" (1842), "Histoire du peuple de Paris" (1844), and "Histoire des révolutions de Paris" (1846). Together with Mocar and Alboize, he published several volumes of "Causes célèbres ou Fastes du crime" (1842-1846).

Notoriety for Sand Critique

Feuillide gained notoriety for his scathing 1833 review of George Sand's novel "Lélia," which he accused of indecency. This review sparked a duel between Feuillide and Gustave Planche, an ardent Sand admirer.
