Jeff Raikes, whose full name is Jeffrey Scott Raikes, was born and raised in Ashland, Nebraska. He completed his high school education in 1976 and later obtained a bachelor's degree in Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford University. His years at Stanford had a significant impact on his life, not only academically but also in terms of his perspective on the world. Raikes immersed himself in the diverse Stanford student community and sought his place in the world. He once played a classic play at school and started his role by standing on his head on a chair, always trying to be different from others. Career at Microsoft

After completing his education, Raikes intended to return home to his family farm in Nebraska. He started working at Microsoft in 1981 as a product manager and later became the head of sales in 1984. During his eight years leading the sales team, Microsoft grew into a software distribution giant. He was then promoted to Vice President of Office Systems and eventually Vice President of Microsoft Productivity and Business Services in 2000.
