Early Life and Theatre Career

Jeffrey DeMunn was born on April 25, 1947, in Buffalo, New York. In the 1970s, he moved to England to hone his craft at the renowned Old Vic Theatre. Upon returning to the United States, he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company and appeared in numerous stage productions.

Film and Television Success

DeMunn's film and television career took off in the 1980s. He gained recognition for his supporting roles in films such as "The Hitcher," "The Green Mile," and "The Mist." In 1995, he portrayed serial killer Andrei Chikatilo in the television movie "Citizen X," earning a CableACE Award and an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Collaboration with Frank Darabont

DeMunn has collaborated extensively with director Frank Darabont, starring in several adaptations of Stephen King's works. He played key roles in "The Shawshank Redemption," "The Green Mile," and "The Mist." From 2010 to 2012, DeMunn appeared as a series regular in Darabont's AMC series "The Walking Dead."
