Biography of Jennifer Bricker
Jennifer Bricker, an American-Romanian acrobat, was born without legs and has defied all odds to become a successful athlete. She discovered her connection to her childhood idol, gymnast Dominique Moceanu, who won an Olympic gold medal, and learned that they were biological sisters. Early Life
Jennifer was adopted by Sharon and Gerald Bricker when she was three months old and was raised with love and support alongside their three older sons. They had a profound influence on the person Bricker became in her adult life.
Rise to Success
Jennifer, seemingly destined to become a gymnast, won the Illinois state acrobatics championship at the age of 11. She drew inspiration from various sources until she noticed Dominique Moceanu, the youngest member of the American gymnastics team to win an Olympic gold medal. Bricker recalls feeling an immediate connection to Moceanu, seeing herself in her. She discovered that she was also of Romanian descent, just like Moceanu.
Reunion with Her Sister
When Jennifer turned 16, she suddenly realized that her connection to Moceanu held greater significance. She revealed her suspicions to her uncle, a retired private detective, who contacted Moceanu's father, Dumitru. However, it took four years for Jennifer to gather the necessary evidence to reach out to her biological sister, who had no idea of her existence. In December 2007, Moceanu received a letter from Jennifer, explaining their connection. They eventually spoke on the phone and formed a special bond.
Discovering Her Family
Jennifer discovered that she was the middle sister, given up for adoption because their father feared he couldn't financially support a disabled child. The resemblance between Jennifer and her sisters was striking, especially when she met her younger sister, Christina. Jennifer described the experience as looking at herself in a mirror. Despite the challenges Jennifer faced, she had no health issues and was raised in a loving family. In contrast, Moceanu had a difficult childhood and sued her parents for emancipation at the age of 17.
