Jenny Thompson, born Jennifer Beth Thompson, was born in 1973 in Danvers, Massachusetts. She began swimming at the age of 7 and soon caught the attention of her coaches with her exceptional talent. When she was 12, she began training at the Seacoast Swimming Association under the guidance of coaches Amy and Mike Parratto.
