Early Life and Career

Jeremy Hackett was born and raised in Clifton, Bristol, England. He attended Clifton College and began his career in the fashion industry at the age of 17, working at a local menswear store. After a year, he moved to London and worked on the iconic King's Road before securing a job as a salesman at a tailoring house on Savile Row.

While working at Savile Row, Hackett developed a passion for buying and reselling vintage clothing at London's flea markets. Through this side hustle, he met Ashley Lloyd-Jennings, who shared his taste in fashion. Together, they opened the first Hackett store on King's Road in London.

Rise to Prominence

Hackett quickly gained recognition as an expert in menswear, particularly in classic styles. His popularity extended beyond the store, and in 2007 he published his book "Mr. Classic: A Handbook of Manners for the Modern Gentleman."

"Mr. Classic"

"Mr. Classic" was a satirical analysis of men's fashion. It was widely praised by critics and bloggers. Luxist, a prominent menswear blog, called it "a must-have for anyone who takes their wardrobe seriously." Thames and Hudson, the publisher of "Mr. Classic," described it as "a stylish book which allows the right-minded to level up. Classic English tailoring and style are rightly admired the world over... This is a book for those who appreciate the finer things in life and those who wish to appear at all times as men of taste."

Continued Influence

Hackett continues to dispense sartorial advice through his Ask Jeremy portal on his website. He is a respected figure in the fashion world, renowned for his expertise in classic menswear and his commitment to quality and style.
