During the early 2000s, most of his roles were still in television projects such as "Strange Luck," "The Net," "Angel," "Time of Your Life," and several other series.

Breakthrough

In 2002, Jeremy Renner gained recognition for his role in David Jacobson's thriller "Dahmer." He portrayed Jeffrey Dahmer, who was accused of murdering, dismembering, and cannibalizing over fifteen young men. The film, based on real events, was genuinely chilling, despite the lack of graphic scenes. Renner's performance as Dahmer was praised for capturing the character's shy and intellectual side, as well as his brutal and twisted nature.

Continued Success

In 2004, Renner had a significant role in Kyle Bergersen's romance film "Love Comes to the Executioner." That same year, he delivered one of his best performances as Emerson in Asia Argento's drama "The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things." The intense and shocking film received mixed reviews but did not go unnoticed.

The following year, in 2005, Renner landed the lead role in Van Fischer's romance "Neo Ned" and also appeared in Michael Cuesta's drama "Twelve and Holding," which focused on children facing difficult circumstances. In that same year, he played a role in Niki Caro's challenging drama "North Country."

By the end of the first decade of the new century, Jeremy Renner had amassed around thirty film and television roles. His most recent role is as Sam, the main character in Jeff Balismeier's romantic comedy "Lightbulb."
