Jerome Alonzo: A Journey Through Football's Gauntlet

Early Career

At the tender age of 18, Jerome Alonzo caught the attention of OGC Nice, who quickly acquired the promising goalkeeper. Despite spending five seasons at the club, Alonzo struggled to secure a place in the starting lineup, making only seven appearances.

Rise to Prominence

In 1995, Alonzo's career took a turn when he joined Olympique Marseille, a club reeling from a scandal that had relegated them to the second division. As the primary goalkeeper, Alonzo played an integral role in Marseille's return to the top flight but found himself marginalized upon their promotion.

Stint at Saint-Etienne

Alsacio's talent attracted the attention of Saint-Etienne, who purchased him from Olympique Marseille for a lucrative sum. Initially, Alonzo enjoyed success at Saint-Etienne, playing in two full seasons. However, the emergence of Jeremy Janot, dubbed the "Spiderman," gradually diminished Alonzo's playing time.

Sojourn at Paris Saint-Germain

In 2001, Alonzo joined Paris Saint-Germain, where he remained for seven seasons. Despite being a highly touted acquisition, he remained a backup option, oscillating between first, second, and third-choice goalkeeper. Throughout his tenure at PSG, Alonzo made only 71 appearances.

Later Career

As a free agent in 2008, Alonzo signed for FC Nantes. His career highlights include being the son of Pierre Alonzo, a renowned former coach of Paris Saint-Germain. Aside from football, Alonzo is an avid golfer and poker enthusiast.
