Biography of Jerzy Wójcik
Jerzy Wójcik is a Polish cinematographer, screenwriter, and director. He graduated from the Leon Schiller National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź in 1955. Throughout his career, Wójcik collaborated with prominent figures of the Polish school of cinema and also worked with Yugoslavian film directors in the 1960s.
Directorial Work and Recognition
Wójcik directed two films, one of which, "The Gates of Europe" in 1999, received a nomination at the Cairo International Film Festival. In addition to his work in cinema, he also directed several theatrical productions.
Teaching and Writing
In his later years, Wójcik taught the art of cinematography at the University of Katowice and the University of Łódź. He also published a book of essays and memoirs titled "Labyrinth of Light" in 2006.
Awards and Honors
Wójcik received numerous accolades throughout his career, including the Golden Camera for Lifetime Achievement at the Manaki Brothers Film Festival in Macedonia in 1999. He was also awarded the Officer's Cross and the Commander's Cross of the Order of the Rebirth of Poland in 1998 and 2005, respectively.
