Childhood Struggles with Anorexia
Jess Astill's journey with anorexia began at the tender age of 9. After losing a significant amount of weight, she was hospitalized for three months. Astill's mother's own struggles with food influenced her daughter's perception, leading her to believe that avoiding meals was normal.

Social Isolation and Low Self-Esteem
Regular hospital visits and the lack of social interaction with peers during her childhood isolated Astill. Her attempts to fit in proved challenging, further damaging her self-esteem.
A Glimmer of Hope
At 17, Astill met Alan Foster, who helped her see herself differently. She began eating healthier, gained confidence, and envisioned a better future. However, a family crisis in 2011 caused her to relapse.
A New Purpose
Unbeknownst to Astill, she was pregnant at the time of her relapse. Her anorexia had taken a toll on her body, and experts warned of a high risk of miscarriage. The realization that she was harming her unborn child became a turning point.
A Journey of Recovery
Determined to give her child a chance, Astill made drastic changes. She quit her anorexia, fought against the physical and psychological challenges, and embraced a healthier lifestyle.
A New Life, a New Perspective
After years of struggling with anorexia, Astill has emerged as a champion for recovery. She shares her story to inspire others and raise awareness about the dangers of eating disorders. As a mother, she now sees the world through a different lens, grateful for the second chance she has been given.
