Biography of Jess Dylan

Jess Dylan (Jesse Dylan) is an American director and social activist. He is not the first American filmmaker to start with music videos and gradually transition to feature films; however, he is undoubtedly one of the most talented and successful. Dylan also prospers in the market of commercials. Combining all of this with a relatively successful career as a photographer, he embodies the image of an artist who adeptly handles hidden meanings and the methods of conveying them.

Early Career and Music Videos

Dylan's career began with directing music videos for several prominent artists. He worked with the likes of Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Tom Petty, and Lenny Kravitz. Among his more recent projects, it is worth mentioning his work on the music videos for Nelly Furtado and the band 'The Eels'. While collaborating with the 'Black Eyed Peas' on the internet project 'Snickers', Dylan became friends with William James Adams, better known as will.i.am. Eventually, Adams sought Dylan's assistance in creating a joint advertising campaign for Barack Obama. The result was the 'Yes We Can Song', a blend of song, music video, and speech, which earned an Emmy and garnered millions of viewers since its release in February 2008.

Expanding Interests and Collaboration

Dylan stands out from his colleagues due to the diversity of his interests, evident in his project list. It includes a promotional film for the 'PODER Reconciliation Forum', a global reconciliation forum, and fruitful collaboration with the non-profit educational organization 'TED Community'. As a member of 'TED', Dylan produced a series of inspiring, socially-conscious, and highly acclaimed works such as the project for 'Pangea Day 2008', the 'TED Prize Wish 2006' campaign, and the 'Charter for Compassion'. He also worked on a commercial project for Karen Armstrong, the winner of the 2008 'TED' prize.

Transition to Feature Films and 'FORM'

After numerous successful projects, Dylan ventured into feature films. Under his direction, films such as 'How High', 'American Wedding', and 'Kicking & Screaming' were produced, starring actors like Will Ferrell and Robert Duvall. Alongside his colleague Craig Rogers, Dylan co-founded 'FORM', a company specializing in producing commercials. 'FORM' has already collaborated with renowned brands such as Nike, Toyota, Nintendo, Motorola, American Express, Pizza Hut, NFL, and MTV.
