Jim Parsons was born James Joseph Parsons Jr. on March 24, 1973, in Houston, Texas, to Milton Joseph Parsons Jr. and Judy Ann Parsons. His sister, Julie Ann Parsons, is a teacher like their mother, while Jim was drawn to the arts from an early age. Parsons attended Klein Oak High School in Spring, Texas, where he grew up. He discovered his passion for acting while playing in a stage production of Michael Frayn's "Noises Off." This experience instilled in him the importance of honesty and authenticity on stage.
After graduating high school, Parsons enrolled at the University of Houston, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree a few years later. During college, he solidified his commitment to acting, performing in 17 plays over three years, co-founding the theater company Infernal Bridegroom Productions, and regularly participating in Stages Repertory Theatre.
