Biography of Jimmy Hart

Jimmy Ray Hart, a professional wrestling manager, was born on January 1, 1944, in Jackson, Mississippi. In his youth, Jimmy Hart pursued a career in music and served as the lead vocalist for the group "The Gentrys" in the 1960s. The band gained popularity in Memphis clubs, particularly with hits like "Why Should I Cry" and Neil Young's song "Cinnamon Girl." Although "The Gentrys" signed a contract with the label "Stax Records," the company went bankrupt, unable to support the group.

Transition to Wrestling

One day, Jimmy Hart was asked to introduce Jerry "The King" Lawler, whom he had attended high school with. Shortly after, Hart became Lawler's manager. He went on to become the promoter for wrestlers such as King Kong Bundy, "Ravishing" Rick Rude, Leaping Lanny Poffo, Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, Ox Baker, Randy Savage, Kamala, and "Dirty" Eddie Gilbert. This group became known as "Jimmy Hart's First Family of Wrestling" or simply "The First Family."

Success in Wrestling

In 1983 and 1984, Jimmy Hart led Austin Idol, Masao Ito, and Eddie Gilbert to international titles in CWA/AWA. Following this success, he received an invitation from WWE/WWF. In the International Wrestling Federation, Hart's first breakthrough was with Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, who became the Intercontinental Champion in 1985. In 1986, Hart took the Funk family under his wing. The "Funk Family" included Terry Funk, Dory Funk Jr., and "brother" Jimmy Jack Funk. That same year, he formed "The Hart Foundation," which included Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart and Bret "The Hitman" Hart.

Achievements and Continued Career

In 1987, Jimmy Hart became the manager of The Honky Tonk Man, who won the Intercontinental Championship on June 2, 1987, against Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. In the same year, Pro Wrestling Illustrated named Jimmy Hart Manager of the Year. From 1987 onwards, he also managed the female division in WWF, with his protégés being Judy Martin and Leilani Kai, known as "The Glamour Girls."

In 1991, Jimmy Hart represented various teams in different competitions. Apart from "The Hart Foundation," there were "The Natural Disasters," consisting of Earthquake and Typhoon, and "Money Inc.," featuring "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase and IRS. The latter two teams won the WWF World Tag Team Championships.

During 1993 and 1994, Jimmy Hart worked with Hulk Hogan and Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake. They briefly visited Japan in 1994, where Hogan won the WCW Championship against "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair.

After the sale of WWF's broadcasting rights, Jimmy Hart formed his own consortium of investors, with the intention of replacing WCW and producing a similar wrestling show to that of the 1990s.

Additionally, Jimmy Hart is known for composing entrance themes for wrestlers such as Hulk Hogan, The Honky Tonk Man, Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake, and others.

Today, Jimmy Hart is undoubtedly a legendary manager in the world of Wrestlemania.
