Biography of Jocelyn Taylor
Jocelyn Taylor, the oldest roller skater in Britain, started roller skating at the age of 7 and never stopped pursuing her beloved sport. She reminisces about her early training sessions held in the basement of her home, using skates borrowed from her sister. Convincing her parents to allow her to pursue roller skating seriously and professionally proved to be quite a challenge. Today, at the age of 83, Taylor confidently glides across the roller rink. Furthermore, she recently became a true advertising star, participating in a campaign for the medical firm 'Bupa.' During the advertisement, Taylor shared the secret to her athletic form and good health with the viewers. According to the roller skater, the key is to keep moving constantly. Interestingly, 'Bupa' has more than 10 million clients worldwide. Overall, Jocelyn Taylor has been a nine-time British roller skating champion and has been working as a coach since 1960. Throughout her 76 years of roller skating, she has been skating almost daily, genuinely believing that roller skates are what keep her healthy and lively despite her advanced age. "Roller skating is not just my passion, it is my life," admits Jocelyn. Despite the fact that one might think Taylor should be cautious about potential injuries considering her age, the athlete is not worried at all and continues to perform quite complex tricks on her skates. Additionally, for her age, Jocelyn is incredibly flexible.
At one point, she even practiced pairs roller skating with her partner Stanley Balls. She has also had other partners at different times, such as Frank Martin and George Thompson. Jocelyn married Richard Moore, and they have a son named Ashley who also chose roller sports for himself. Interestingly, Ashley's two children also engage in roller skating.
Currently, Jocelyn works as a coach at 'RollerWorld' in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, where she teaches two hours a week. It was there that representatives from the 'Bupa' company noticed her in connection with their advertising project. Jocelyn confessed to the viewers that roller skating not only maintains her physical health but also stimulates her brain, so she has no plans to give up skating in the near future or foreseeable future. "The key to success is to keep moving!" asserts 83-year-old Jocelyn Taylor.
