Joe Ingles (Joseph Howart 'Joe' Ingles) is a professional Australian basketball player who plays as a shooting guard for the Australian national basketball team. He gained the most popularity through his successful game with Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he spent one season. In the fall of 2014, news broke that Ingles was preparing to join the popular National Basketball Association team, the Los Angeles Clippers, for whom his acquisition would be one of the biggest purchases of the season.
Early Life and Career
Joe Ingles was born on October 2, 1987, in a small town near Adelaide, Australia. He started playing basketball in school and quickly began to show promising results on the court. He was a member of the Lake Ginninderra College basketball team and later continued to play for the Australian Institute of Sport's national team.
In March 2006, Ingles began his professional career when he signed a multi-year contract with the South Dragons. In his first game with the new team, he set a league record by scoring the most points in his first professional game - 29. His subsequent performances were almost flawless, and at the end of the season in 2007, Ingles rightfully received the "Rookie of the Year" award.
In 2009, Ingles signed a contract with the Golden State Warriors to participate in the NBA Summer League. He also played for the team in 2010. Soon after, he signed a contract with the Spanish team CB Granada. Unfortunately, he only spent one season with the new club, as their main rivals, FC Barcelona, became interested in him during the next transfer window. An official agreement was reached, and Ingles appeared on the field for the first time in the famous garnet uniform. During his three-year contract with the club, he showcased his versatility, proving his indispensability on both the defensive and offensive ends.
Despite reaching a preliminary agreement on contract extension with Barcelona, it was announced in the summer of 2013 that Ingles would go to Israel to strengthen the already star-studded roster of Maccabi Tel Aviv.
