Early Life and Career

Joely Fisher began performing on stage in Las Vegas at the age of seven, where her mother worked. She and Tricia participated in a world tour with Connie Stevens, attending different schools and having a private tutor. She also studied at Beverly Hills High School and spent a semester at the University of Paris. She then decided to make a "pit stop" in New York and unexpectedly reconnected with her father, rebuilding their lost relationship. After that, Fisher attended Emerson College but dropped out before obtaining a degree in favor of pursuing an acting career.

Despite facing weight-related issues as a teenager, she still played the role of the "chubby friend" during summer performances. Her film debut came to her with the role of Everly in the comedy "Pretty Smart" (1987), in which her sister Tricia also appeared. In 1991, she portrayed Chris in the teen television series "Dedicated to the One I Love" alongside Danielle Ferland. Following this, Fisher appeared in the comedy "I'll Do Anything" (1994) with Nick Nolte, which helped her secure more substantial roles. As a guest artist, Fisher appeared in numerous television series, including "Growing Pains," "Blossom," "Caroline in the City," "The Outer Limits," "Grace Under Fire," and "Coach."

Finally, in 1994, she landed her most prominent role as the empty and indifferent Paige Clark in the sitcom "Ellen." She played this role until the show's cancellation in 1998. In the same year, Fisher was nominated for a Golden Globe. After "Ellen," Joely appeared on the screen as Dr. Brenda Bradford in David Kellogg's action film "Inspector Gadget" (1999) alongside actor Matthew Broderick. She made her Broadway debut by replacing one of the actors in the revival of "Grease" (1994). For the same reason, the actress joined the cast of "Cabaret" (1998).

Later Career and Personal Life

From 2003 to 2005, Fisher was one of the stars of the drama series "Wild Card," portraying Zoe Busiek. She then appeared in the series "Desperate Housewives" as Nina Fletcher, Lynette's malicious boss. Since 2006, Fisher has portrayed Joy Stark in the sitcom "Til Death" alongside actor Brad Garrett. She also appeared in the comedy "The Cat Club," played Claire in the short film "Murdering Mama's Boy," and Kimberly in Melora Hardin's new drama "You."

Together with her mother, Connie Stevens, and sister Tricia, the actress recorded the album "Traditions...a Family at Christmas." Their traditional hits sold very well and even became favorites on radio playlists during the holiday season. Fisher has been married to cinematographer Christopher Duddy since December 31, 1996.
