American auto racing driver Joey Logano holds the distinction of being the youngest winner in NASCAR history. He currently competes in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, driving the No. 22 Ford Mustang for Penske Racing.
Early Career and Record-Breaking Victories
Logano began his NASCAR career in 2008, driving the No. 20 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing. From 2008 to 2012, he recorded two victories and 41 top-10 finishes. His breakthrough came in 2009 when he became the youngest winner in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, at the Meijer 300 on Kentucky Speedway. At just 18 years and 21 days old, he smashed the previous record set by Casey Atwood in 1999.
Later that year, Logano made history again by capturing the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Aged 19 years and 35 days, he eclipsed Kyle Busch's previous record as the youngest victor in the Sprint Cup Series.
Move to Team Penske and Championship Success
In 2014, Logano signed a multi-year contract with Team Penske, securing his spot on the team through 2018. He made a memorable appearance in the 2015 television movie "Sharknado 3" as himself.
Logano's career reached new heights in 2018 when he claimed his first NASCAR championship title. On November 19, he secured the victory, becoming the youngest champion in the series' history. On November 6, 2022, he added a second NASCAR Cup Series championship to his resume.
