John Agnello: Producer, Sound Engineer, and DJ
John Agnello is a renowned producer, sound engineer, and DJ who has worked on numerous acclaimed albums over the past quarter-century. His most recent projects include collaborations with bands such as The Hold Steady, Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, The Living End, Drive-By Truckers, and The Ponys.

Early Career
John's studio life began in 1979 when he was just nineteen years old. He started as an intern at the legendary Record Plant Studios in Manhattan and gradually worked his way up to become a production assistant. He contributed to albums by well-known bands, including Aerosmith, Twisted Sister, Scandal, John Cougar Mellencamp, and John Waite. He even had the opportunity to work on Bruce Springsteen's legendary album, "Born In the USA." However, his most significant influence came from his work on Cindy Lauper's project, "She's So Unusual!"

Collaborations and Achievements
Throughout his career, John had the privilege of working alongside some of the greatest figures in the sound recording industry, including Jack Douglas, Jimmy Iovine, Rick Chertoff, William Wittman, Mike Chapman, Dave Toerner, Jay Messina, Roy Cicala, and Shelley Yakus. His breakthrough came with his work on The Hooters' second album. He later collaborated with artists such as Patti Smith, Sophie B. Hawkins, and The Outfield, whose debut record "Play Deep" became a hit, thanks to the popular track "Your Love."

During the same period, John also had the opportunity to work with his favorite artists, Bob Dylan and Mick Jagger. He recorded Dylan's "Series of Dreams" in Bill Whitman's style, and this version of the song played at Dylan's award ceremony for his lifetime achievements. Jagger's "Hard Woman" became an exclusive music video for MTV.
In the early 1990s, John worked on several albums that were close to his heart. He formed alliances with Dinosaur Jr. and Screaming Trees, resulting in nearly a dozen albums. Recently, he mixed Dinosaur Jr.'s highly acclaimed reunion record, "Beyond." He has also released projects with artists such as Buffalo Tom, Jawbox, Chavez, Redd Kross, and Patty Smith.
Later, John had the honor of working with Alice Cooper on his album, "The Last Temptation Of Alice Cooper." Over the past decade, he has collaborated with notable bands and musicians such as Sonic Youth, The Living End, Andrew W.K., Drive-By Truckers, and Social Distortion. He played a significant role in the creation of The Hold Steady's albums "Boys And Girls In America" and "Stay Positive."
Legacy and Diverse Projects
Although John's body of work may seem somewhat homogeneous from an outsider's perspective, a closer look reveals its diversity. While most of his projects feature hard-hitting melodies, he has also produced albums for more mellow bands and singers. For example, he has worked with Son Volt, The Kills, Thurston Moore, The Walkmen, and Five for Fighting.
John Agnello's remarkable work ethic has become legendary in the industry. His numerous accomplishments and collaborations are a testament to his dedication and talent as a producer, sound engineer, and DJ.
