Biography of John Frieda

John Frieda is a legendary English stylist and hairdresser, as well as the founder of his own salon chain and eponymous brand, 'John Frieda'. From a young age, John dreamed of becoming a hairdresser, while his father, the owner of a hair salon, insisted that his son become a doctor. After failing his medical school exams, John's father accepted his son's passion for working with hair. In 1976, John opened his first salon, and one of his early successes was the haircut he gave to actress and model Joanna Lumley, which became known as the 'Purdy cut' after her character.

In the 1980s, John Frieda gained recognition as a hairdresser to celebrities such as Princess Diana and Paul McCartney. During this time, he also began developing his own line of hair care products. His first successful creation was a volumizing lotion that gave hair incredible volume. In 2002, he sold his company, 'John Frieda Professional Hair Care Inc.', to the Japanese corporation 'Kao Corporation' for $450 million.

In recent years, John Frieda has returned to working as a stylist and hairdresser, in addition to managing his successful salon chain and brand. He devotes much of his time and energy to charitable endeavors. His motto is that success is directly linked to hard work, and he believes that finding pleasure in the process of work is a significant step towards success. He often cites his father as an example, as he always enjoyed everything he did, whether it was washing dishes or cutting hair.

John Frieda has been married multiple times. He had a son named Jordan Frieda with his first wife, Scottish singer Lulu, in 1977. Currently, he is married to Frances Avery Agnelli, and they have a daughter named Leyla Luna (born in 2005) and a son named Jackson John (born in 2007). John is also known for his avid interest in politics and donated £50,000 to the Conservative Party in 2010.

While John Frieda is known for his work as a stylist and hairdresser, he is most recognized for his hair care products under the 'John Frieda' brand. Despite their initial success in the previous century, these products continue to be highly popular. The 'The Brilliant Brunette line' and 'The Radiant Red' were released in the 2000s and are highly valued by consumers, despite not being as widely available as products from larger hair care brands.
