Biography of Jon Hensley

Jon Hensley (born on August 26, 1965) is an American film actor. He was born in Brown Mills, New Jersey and his family later moved to Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where his parents opened a French restaurant. As a teenager, Hensley worked various jobs at the restaurant, from assistant cook to bouncer. Growing tired of the restaurant business, he decided to study journalism at New York University. Due to a late enrollment, he did not secure a place in the dormitories and was forced to live in the Young Christian Association, experiencing the challenges of using public toilets and bathrooms. He often questioned his purpose there, until one fateful night when he met a woman in a nightclub who suggested he try acting. Hensley found the idea intriguing and pursued a career in acting, with the woman eventually becoming his manager.

Early Acting Career

Hensley's acting career began with an audition for the soap opera "Another World," although he didn't land the role. However, a few months later, he was invited to play Brody Price in "One Life to Live." After completing his work on this project, Hensley secured a role that would make him a soap opera superstar - Holden Snyder in "As the World Turns." From the start, it was clear that the writers intended to pair his character with Martha Byrne's Lily, but Hensley desired something different.

London and Return to Soap Opera

In 1988, Hensley left the show and moved to London, where he enrolled at the Shakespeare Academy of Music, Drama, and Art. In 1990, he reconnected with the show's producers and offered to return. By that time, Martha Byrne had left the project, giving Hensley the opportunity to explore other options. However, a new actress, Heather Rattray, was cast as Lily, and a romantic storyline between Holden and her began. This version of the storyline did not resonate well with fans, and by the end of 1992, the couple was broken up with Holden suffering from amnesia.

Return and Final Departure from Soap Opera

In 1993, Martha Byrne returned to the show, and the writers made Hensley's character obsessed with Lily. However, by the beginning of 1995, Hensley grew tired of this storyline and left the show once again. During this break, he had the opportunity to act in projects such as "Wounded Heart," "Beverly Hills 90210," and "Almost Perfect." In May 1996, Hensley married his former co-star from "As the World Turns," Kelley Menighan.

Overall, Jon Hensley's career has been marked by his notable roles in soap operas, as well as his ventures into other acting projects.
