John LeCompt: A Journey in Heavy Metal

Early Days in Mindrage

John LeCompt's musical journey began with Mindrage, where he held the roles of lead vocalist and guitarist. In June 1998, the band released their album "Sown in Weakness, Raised in Power," featuring 11 tracks.

Collaboration with Rocky Gray

LeCompt's collaboration with Rocky Gray, guitarist for Living Sacrifice, led to the formation of KillSystem. They were joined by Chad Moore, drummer for Soul Embraced, who later became Gray's drum tech during his time with Evanescence.

Involvement with Evanescence

LeCompt's association with Evanescence dates back to 2000, when he was credited as the "sexiest man alive" in the liner notes of their album "Origin." Fans wholeheartedly agreed, later dubbing him "Evanescence's hottest member."

LeCompt played a significant role in writing the song "Taking Over Me" for the album "Fallen," as well as "All That I'm Living For" on "The Open Door" and "Forever Gone, Forever You." He also collaborated with his brother, Jimmy LeCompt, on a project called "Burnt Offerings," creating the song "Free But Hollow."

Post-Evanescence

After Ben Moody's departure from Evanescence, LeCompt briefly filled in on vocals for Paul McCoy's Bring Me to Life performance. He officially left Evanescence on May 4, 2007.

Personal Life

Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, LeCompt currently resides there with his wife, Shelly, and their two children, Bethany and John LeCompt II. He also shares his home with five dogs.
