Biography of John Tesh
John Frank Tesh was born on June 9, 1952, in Garden City, New York, on Long Island. From a young age, he showed a talent for music, learning to play the French horn and piano. He studied with teachers from the Juilliard School and became a member of the New York State Symphony Orchestra while still in high school. During this time, he also played the organ in a local rock band.

After graduating from high school in 1971, Tesh pursued his education in communications and music at the University of North Carolina. In 1975, he completed his studies and simultaneously worked as a news anchor on WTVD in Durham, North Carolina. Following his education, Tesh moved to Orlando, Florida, where he secured a position at WFTV.

Tesh's television career included stints as a news reporter and anchor in Nashville, Tennessee, where he competed with Oprah Winfrey. After Nashville, Tesh relocated to Raleigh and then to New York City, where he became the youngest reporter at WCBS-TV at the age of twenty-three. From 1986 to 1996, he hosted the show "Entertainment Tonight," and during this time, he also worked as a sports commentator, covering events such as the Tour de France and the Olympic gymnastics competition.

In addition to his television work, Tesh is a talented pianist and composer who specializes in pop and contemporary Christian music. He also plays the French horn and sings. Tesh has sold approximately seven million records and his radio show, "The John Tesh Radio Show," is broadcast on three hundred sixty stations. He is also known for hosting the long-running television show "Entertainment Tonight."

Tesh has received numerous awards for his musical contributions, including six Emmy Awards, four gold albums, two Grammy nominations, and an Associated Press award for his contributions to journalism. His live concerts have generated over twenty million dollars for PBS. Furthermore, Tesh has demonstrated his passion for music by collaborating with famous Greek composer Yanni and securing his first recording contract with the "Private Music" label.
Outside of his career, Tesh is a devoted fan of the television series "Star Trek" and even appeared as a Klingon warrior in an episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation." Despite his success in various fields, Tesh remains dedicated to his music and continues to create and perform his unique blend of pop and contemporary Christian music.
