Jonathan Lee Riches is an American prisoner who has gained notoriety for filing a record number of lawsuits. He made headlines when he entered the Guinness World Records as the person who has filed the most lawsuits in the world. However, when he heard that his name would soon appear in the famous publication, he threatened to sue Guinness World Records.
Biography
Jonathan Lee Riches spent some time in a federal prison in Lexington, Kentucky for fraudulent use of electronic communications. During his time behind bars, he spent almost every day filing lawsuits, complaining about everything under the sun.
It all began with his claims against the video game "GTA" and its developers. According to Jonathan, this game was responsible for leading him down a criminal path. He also had grievances against the owners of social networking sites, dating websites, and other similar platforms, accusing them of teaching him how to exploit personal information of others.
His list of lawsuits continued with claims against former US President George W. Bush, singer Britney Spears, and several television show hosts. But Jonathan didn't stop there. He also had complaints against historical figures such as Che Guevara, the Roman Empire, Nostradamus, and even the Eiffel Tower in Paris. He even went as far as suing Somali pirates, small planets, and Scandinavian gods.
Starting from January 2006, Riches filed no less than 2,600 lawsuits, which caught the attention of Guinness World Records. Most of his lawsuits were dismissed due to their lack of merit, but that didn't deter him. He continued to exercise his rights in every possible direction.
In 2012, Jonathan violated the terms of his probation by leaving the state boundaries, which was strictly prohibited. However, he was too preoccupied with his lawsuits to worry about the consequences. He refused to acknowledge his own responsibility for the crimes he committed, blaming the system, historical figures, computer games, internet developers, and others for leading him astray.
Serious judicial authorities no longer pay attention to Jonathan Lee Riches and his lawsuits. They try to dismiss him in any way possible. However, he believes that it is necessary for him to appear in the pages of the Guinness World Records, and he has threatened to sue the publishers if his name is included. He also claims to have a long list of American stores with which he intends to settle matters in court.
