Jono Bacon: A Multifaceted British Talent
Early Life and CareerJono Bacon is a renowned British writer, software developer, and musician. Prior to September 1, 2006, he worked for OpenAdvantage, a company sponsored by Advantage West Midlands, a regional development agency. As of September 4, 2006, he joined Canonical as a Community Manager for Ubuntu.
Musical Endeavors
Bacon is an active member of the metal band Seraphidian, where he serves as lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist. His website showcases numerous solo recordings, including a notable "more metal" version of Richard Stallman's Free Software Song.
The Birth of Jokosher
While recording his "LugRadio" podcast, Bacon encountered challenges with using proprietary audio editors. Unable to find a satisfactory open-source multi-track recorder, he embarked on creating his own: Jokosher (originally named Jonoedit).
Jokosher was released on July 21, 2006, and version 0.2, supporting LADSPA effects and plugins, was launched on November 20, 2006. Bacon regularly presents updates on Jokosher's development at WolvesLUG (Wolverhampton Linux User Group) meetings.
Literary Contributions
As a skilled journalist, Bacon has penned countless articles for publications such as Linux User and Developer, Linux Format, Linux Magazine, MacTech, MacFormat, and PC Plus. In addition to these contributions, he has authored several books, including "Linux Desktop Hacks," "Building the Perfect Website with PHP and MySQL," "PHP and MySQL Web Applications: Building Eight Dynamic Web Sites," and "The Official Ubuntu Book."

Bacon has graced the stages of renowned events such as the Southern California Linux Expo, LinuxWorld, Linux User & Developer Conference, Blender Conference, IBM Linux Migration Seminar, European Friends Of O'Reilly, d:CODE, Association For Free Software Conference, SkyCon, UKUUG Conference West Midlands IT Association, and OSS Watch Conference. He has also hosted the annual "LUGRadio Live events" in 2005 and 2006, which he initiated. Notably, he delivered a keynote speech at the "10 years KDE" anniversary conference in Ostfildern, Germany.
