Jordan Romero is an American mountaineer who holds the record for being the youngest person to conquer Mount Everest. Born in 1996 in Redlands, California, Jordan's passion for climbing was nurtured by his father, Paul Romero, an experienced mountaineer. By the age of 13, Jordan had already climbed Mount Aconcagua, Mount McKinley, Mount Kilimanjaro, and Mount Elbrus.

In May 2010, Jordan, along with his father, stepmother Karen Lundgren, and three Sherpa guides, successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest. At the time, Jordan was only 13 years and 10 months old, surpassing the previous record held by Ming Kipa, a 15-year-old Sherpa girl who conquered Everest in 2003. However, following Jordan's achievement, new regulations were put in place, prohibiting individuals under the age of 18 from attempting to climb Everest.

Despite the controversy surrounding his age, Jordan's accomplishment cemented his place in mountaineering history. Standing on the summit at the age of 13, 10 months, and 10 days, he faced criticism regarding the safety and maturity of children participating in such high-risk expeditions. Medical expert David Hillebrandt expressed doubts about Jordan's mental readiness and raised concerns about the exploitation of children in the pursuit of fame and financial gain.

Nevertheless, Jordan and his father celebrated their victory, and the young mountaineer's success led to the launch of a brand under his name, specializing in sports and mountaineering equipment. However, the law now protects young climbers from ambitious parents, and it is advised not to attempt Everest before the age of 18.
