Biography of George Brett
George Brett was a Canadian educator, psychologist, and historian of psychology. He received his education at the Kingswood Preparatory School in Bath, and from 1898 to 1902, he attended Christ Church College in Oxford. In 1902, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree, and in 1909, he earned his Master's degree.
Early Career
Brett worked as a teacher at an English school for two years, and from 1904 to 1908, he served as a professor of philosophy at the College of Management in Lahore, India. Afterward, he became a classics teacher and librarian at Trinity College in Toronto.
University of Toronto
In 1908, Brett began his tenure at the University of Toronto, where he worked as a teacher and administrator for 36 years until his death. In 1926, he became the dean of the newly established Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology, and in 1932, he became the head of the Graduate Department. Brett was a member of the Aristotelian Society, the American Philosophical Association, and the Society for the History of Science.

Brett dedicated his research to the history of psychology, offering comprehensive insights into the development of global psychological thought from ancient and Eastern psychology to modern psychology.
