Early Life and Career
Jordi Bertomeu was born on January 15, 1959, in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. He earned a bachelor's degree in law from the University of Barcelona. From 1982 to 1994, he served as General Legal Advisor and General Secretary of the ACB (Association of Basketball Clubs), the organizing body of the Liga ACB, the top professional basketball league in Spain.
ACB Vice President and EuroLeague Director
From 1994 to 2000, Bertomeu was Vice President of the ACB. In 2000, he was appointed General Director of Basketball EuroLeague, the organizer of the premier European club basketball competition, the EuroLeague, as well as its second-tier competition, the EuroCup.
EuroLeague Chairman and President
In 2009, Basketball EuroLeague promoted Bertomeu to Chairman of the Board and in 2011, to President. In 2021, it was confirmed that he would step down as CEO of Basketball EuroLeague at the end of the 2021-2022 season after six of the league's teams voted for his dismissal.
Awards and Honors
On November 25, 2008, the Lithuanian government awarded Bertomeu the Order of the Republic of Lithuania for his contribution to the development and popularization of sports in the country.

Jordi Bertomeu is the father of political scientist Marc Bertomeu Goijens.
