Early Life and Family Ties

Jörg Hasenjäger was born and raised in Burscheid, Germany, the son of a renowned hairdresser, Hardy Hasenjäger, who had practiced his craft for over 45 years in the town. Instead of following in his father's footsteps as a hairstylist, Jörg chose to pursue a different path in the beauty industry, becoming a professional make-up artist.

Flourishing Career and Renowned Clientele

Over the course of his successful career as a make-up artist, Jörg has worked with a prestigious clientele that includes the legendary opera singers Plácido Domingo and José Carreras, as well as the iconic German singer Heino and the versatile entertainer Dirk Bach. Jörg's talent and expertise have established him as one of the most respected make-up artists in the country, having collaborated with actors, opera singers, and musical stars alike.

Unique Challenges as a Make-up Artist

Through his work with performers, Jörg discovered that being a make-up artist required not only technical skills but also a keen understanding of psychology. He noticed that actors tend to express their emotions with great intensity, which can be emotionally draining for make-up artists and hairdressers who witness such personal moments regularly.

A Shift in Direction: Family Legacy and New Pursuits

After 25 years as a make-up artist, Jörg returned to his hometown, marking a significant change in his career. His father had retired after nearly half a century of working in his own barbershop, and Jörg decided to take over the family business. Jörg embraced this new chapter with enthusiasm, seeing it as an opportunity to move away from the often demanding schedule of working in theaters. Both he and his wife, Beate Preinsfeld, who is also a make-up artist, welcomed the chance to focus more on their family after years of relentless work.

Treasures from the Stage: A Collection of Mementos

Jörg's time as a make-up artist in Stuttgart, where he served as the lead make-up artist for "Musical Stage Entertainment," gifted him with a wealth of memories. He became highly proficient in applying make-up for the iconic roles in productions such as "Cats," "The Phantom of the Opera," and "Beauty and the Beast." Over the years, he has amassed an impressive collection of autographs from the numerous renowned performers he has worked with, including German stars like Heino, Dirk Bach, and Max Schautzer, as well as international opera legends Plácido Domingo and José Carreras.

Continuing Ties to the Performing Arts

Despite his transition to running the family barbershop, Jörg's connection to the entertainment industry remains strong. He continues to receive requests from his former employers for assistance on various productions. Notably, he will be involved in the upcoming Hamburg staging of "The Phantom of the Opera" in November.
