Early Life and Artistic Influences

Born in Havana, Arche pursued formal education at two art academies, including the renowned San Alejandro Academy. However, his artistic views were primarily shaped by the guidance of Victor Manuel Garcia and Aristides Fernandez.

Recognition and Early Success

In 1935 and 1938, Arche received awards at the first two Havana Salons of Painting and Sculpture. In 1937, he created a fresco at the Santa Clara Teacher's College and debuted his first solo exhibition at the Havana Lyceum.

Portraits with Classical Flair

Arche gained acclaim in the 1930s for his vibrant portraits, which displayed a clear influence from classical painting. He emerged as a leading Cuban portraitist of his generation.
