Early Career

José Augusto Brandão, a Brazilian footballer, began his career at the Barra Funda club in his native São Paulo in 1927. In 1931, Brandão joined Juventus, where he played for two seasons without much success.

Success at Portuguesa

In 1933-1934, Brandão played for Portuguesa, where his team won the bronze medal in the Paulista Championship in his first season and repeated the success the following year.

Move to Corinthians

Brandão's performances attracted the attention of the giants Corinthians, who lured him to the club in 1935. Brandão spent 11 years at Corinthians, winning four São Paulo Championships.

International Career

Brandão's impressive club form earned him a call-up to the Brazilian national team, for which he played 16 matches over seven years. He was even selected for the 1938 FIFA World Cup in France, where he played two games and won the bronze medal.

Retirement

Brandão retired from football in 1946, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most successful players of his era in Brazilian football.
