Biography of Jose Garcia
French actor of Spanish origin Jose Garcia has gained audience recognition for his roles in comedy projects and voice acting in Hollywood animated films. Due to his resemblance to Robert Downey Jr., he is jokingly referred to as the European clone of the American artist.

Childhood and Youth
Jose Garcia was born on March 17, 1966, in Paris. His parents were originally from the historic region of Galicia in Spain and left the country due to disagreement with the policies of dictator Francisco Franco. In France, a large diaspora of immigrants from the Iberian Peninsula was formed, and its representatives maintained cultural ties with their homeland - the future actor knew two languages from childhood.
In Garcia's biography, there was a period when he dreamed of a career as a circus artist. At a young age, together with his parents, the boy visited the show "Trailer to the Stars." The colorful costumes, music, and acts captivated the young viewer, as well as the combination of theatrical atmosphere and performing arts. However, his family viewed his enthusiasm with skepticism, and after school, at the insistence of his elders, the young man went to study accounting.
Jose was enlisted in the French army, and he had to temporarily forget about his acting career. In 1986, after being demobilized, Garcia entered the private drama school "Cours Florent" in Paris, where he studied with Francis Huster. The young man also did not forget about his love for the circus - in his youth, he attended courses by Annie Fratellini, a representative of the well-known clown dynasty in Europe.
Films
Garcia's first work in his filmography was a cameo role in the melodrama "Romuald and Juliette." For a long time, the son of Spanish immigrants contented himself with episodic appearances on the big screen and starred in short films. Success came to Jose in 1997 when the comedy "Would I Lie to You?" directed by Thomas Gilou was released, and the actor was nominated for a Cesar Award.
Initially, the Franco-Spanish artist was perceived solely as a representative of the comedy genre and participated in various television projects as a guest star. His voice can also be heard in the French dubbing of the American animated film "Mulan." In addition, Jose has appeared in box office successful films such as "The Cyclist," "Unforgivable," and "Four Stars."
In 2007, the film "Asterix at the Olympic Games," an adaptation of the comics about the adventures of Gauls Asterix and Obelix, was released. Garcia played a supporting role in the film. In interviews, Garcia admitted that he was tired of working in comedy projects, so he took a temporary break in his career. He showcased his dramatic potential in films such as "The Prostitute" and "Now You See Me."
However, in 2016, the Franco-Spanish actor returned to his roots and starred alongside Andre Dussollier and Caroline Vigneaux in Nicolas Benamou's film "Full Speed." During the creation of the film, the director and screenwriters were inspired by the comedy "Due Date," in which Robert Downey Jr. played the lead role. It is not surprising that Garcia, who bears a resemblance to the American actor, easily passed the casting. Some viewers went to the premiere fully convinced that they would enjoy the performance of the main character from "Iron Man" after seeing the trailer and photos from the set.
Personal Life
Jose Garcia met his wife Isabelle Doval during their studies at the circus school. She worked as a dancer and singer, performed in theaters, and appeared in films before choosing a career as a director. Garcia often talked about his family in interviews, but a happy personal life did not guarantee a successful marriage - the couple separated in 2021. The actor has two children: daughters Lauren and Telma.
Current Status of Jose Garcia
Garcia has spoken about the emotional difficulties he experienced during the forced lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. Currently, the actor is actively involved in filming. In 2023, Jose appeared on the screen in the film "Asterix and Obelix: The Silk Road" and the Chinese action film "Hunting the Fox." He also played the lead role in David Pujol's comedy "Waiting for Dali."
