José Manuel Albares Bueno
José Manuel Albares Bueno is a Spanish diplomat and politician who has served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain since July 12, 2021.
Early Career
Albares' diplomatic career began as a consul in Bogotá. He later served as an advisor to Spain's permanent representative to the OECD and to the Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) leader Pedro Sánchez.
High-Level Appointments
When Sánchez became Prime Minister in 2018, Albares was appointed Secretary-General for International Relations, the European Union, the G20, and Global Security within the Prime Minister's Office.
Ambassador to France
From 2020 to 2021, Albares served as Spain's Ambassador to France. His experience in international diplomacy and his close relationship with Sánchez made him a natural choice for the role.
Minister of Foreign Affairs
