Early Career and NHL Draft
José Théodore is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender who began his NHL career in 1995. He was selected in the second round (44th overall) of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens.
NHL Career
Théodore spent several seasons with the Canadiens before being traded to the Colorado Avalanche in 2006. He later became an unrestricted free agent and signed with the Washington Capitals in 2008. In 2010, he signed a one-year, $1.1 million contract with the Minnesota Wild. His final NHL stop was with the Florida Panthers, where he played from 2011 to 2013.
Goal-Scoring Goalie
Théodore is one of only a few goaltenders to score a goal in an NHL game. On January 2, 2001, he scored into an empty net from his own end of the ice in a game against the New York Islanders.

Throughout his NHL career, Théodore played in 643 games and recorded 286 wins. He also appeared in 56 playoff games, winning 21.
