Biography of Anton von Störck
Early Life and EducationAnton von Störck was an Austrian physician born in Sulzbach, Bavaria, in 1731. He began his medical studies at the University of Vienna at the age of 14 and graduated as a doctor at the precocious age of 18.
Academic Career
In 1754, Störck became a lecturer at the University of Vienna. He defended his dissertation on the role of insects in medicine at the University of Freiburg in 1756.
Imperial Physician and Royal Court
Störck served as the physician to the Austrian Imperial Court during the reigns of Maria Theresa and Joseph II. In 1797, he was elevated to the rank of count.
Mentor to Samuel Hahnemann
From 1777 to 1779, Störck served as the mentor to Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy.
