Rise to Fame as Gregory Goyle

Joshua Herdman gained fame for his portrayal of Gregory Goyle in the Harry Potter films. His first appearance was in the 2000 film "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone." His character is one of Draco Malfoy's "bodyguards," not accustomed to thinking independently and relying more on brute force.

According to the script, Gregory Goyle, played by Herdman, is seven years older than him. He is the son of Death Eater Goyle Sr. At the age of eleven, like all wizards, he entered Hogwarts. In his second year, Harry Potter takes on the appearance of Gregory Goyle using a Polyjuice Potion. In his fifth year, Goyle becomes a Beater for Slytherin's Quidditch team. He also joins the Inquisitorial Squad, following Malfoy's lead. In his sixth year, Goyle himself takes the Polyjuice Potion, transforming into a little girl, and together with Vincent Crabbe, another one of Malfoy's "bodyguards," guards Draco in the Room of Requirement. The only spell Goyle excels at is the Cruciatus Curse, which he uses on disobedient students.

The final year is marked by a duel between Malfoy, Goyle, and Crabbe against Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. During the fight, when Crabbe uses the spell "Fiendfyre," he loses consciousness and is saved by Ron, who picks him up on a broom as they escape the Room of Requirement.

Herdman's literary character only speaks for the first time in the seventh year, with a voice resembling a grunt.

Other Works

In addition to the five Harry Potter films, Joshua Herdman appeared in guest roles in the TV series "The Crust" and "The Bill," as well as in the interactive drama series "UGetMe." He also starred alongside fellow Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) as a con artist in the film "Thunderpants." Apart from acting, Herdman also writes scripts for feature and short films. In his free time, he enjoys boxing and playing rugby. He currently resides in the small town of St. Margarets, near Richmond, where his family runs a carpet shop.
