After the World Cup, Burgueño returned to Danubio, where he formed a formidable partnership with Romero known as "La Unión." From 1948 to 1954, he was a key player for the club, making over 200 appearances and helping them secure the silver medal in the Uruguayan championship in 1954.

Tour of Central America and Mexico

In 1955, Danubio embarked on a tour of Central America and Mexico, with Burgueño as a member of the traveling squad. This provided him with invaluable international experience.
