Early Life and Career
Juan Fernando Quintero Paniagua is a Colombian footballer who plays as a midfielder for River Plate and the Colombian national team.
Born in Medellín, Quintero began his professional career with Envigado in 2009. He made his senior debut in the Copa Colombia and scored his first goal for the club in the league against Cúcuta Deportivo in 2009. However, his promising start was cut short when he suffered a broken leg in the same year.
Loan to Atlético Nacional
In 2011, Quintero joined Atlético Nacional on loan. He made his debut against Deportivo Cali and scored his first goal for the club against Millonarios, helping his team secure a 2-3 victory.
Transfer to Pescara
In 2012, Quintero moved to Italy to play for Pescara. He made his Serie A debut against Inter Milan and scored his first goal for the club against Bologna.
Time at Porto
In 2013, Quintero signed a four-year contract with Porto. He scored his first goal for the team in his debut match against Vitoria de Setúbal and helped Porto win the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira that season.
Loan to Rennes
In 2015, Quintero was loaned to Rennes in France. He made his Ligue 1 debut against Nice and scored his first goal for the club against Caen.
Return to Colombia and River Plate
After a loan spell with Independiente Medellín in Colombia in 2017, Quintero moved to River Plate in Argentina in early 2018. He made his debut in the Argentine Primera División against Olimpo.
International Career
Quintero made his international debut for Colombia in 2012 in a friendly match against Cameroon. He has represented his country in both the FIFA World Cup and the FIFA U-20 World Cup, where he scored several important goals.
