Early Life and Boxing Beginnings

At the tender age of five, Agnieszka Sheremeta embarked on the path of martial arts through karate. Her passion for combat eventually led her to the world of boxing. Initially training at MKS II LO Chełm, she joined Paco Lublin after completing secondary school.

Amateur Career

In 2022, Sheremeta emerged victorious in the Polish National Championships, capturing the 60 kg title after defeating Jacqueline Kolciolek in the final. Her impressive performance continued the following year at the 2023 European Games, where she secured the 5th position in the 57 kg category and triumphed as European Junior Champion in the same weight division, overcoming Bojana Gojković of Montenegro in the final.

Olympic Glory

In March 2024, Sheremeta's unwavering determination culminated in her qualification for the Summer Olympics. Competing in the 57 kg category, she displayed remarkable skill and determination, defeating Omailin Alcala of Venezuela in the first round and Tina Rahimi of Australia in the round of 16. Her resilience shone through in the quarterfinals as she triumphed over Puerto Rico's Ashelyann Lozada, securing a minimum of a bronze medal. This historic achievement marked Poland's first Olympic medal in boxing since Wojciech Bartnik's bronze in 1992. Sheremeta's journey continued with a victory over Nesthy Petecio of the Philippines in the semifinals, propelling her into the final. In a thrilling encounter, she faced Lin Yu-Ting of Chinese Taipei and ultimately succumbed to a unanimous decision. Nevertheless, her performance etched Poland's name in history, marking the country's first Olympic boxing final since Paweł Skrzecz's silver in 1980.

Political Aspiration

Beyond the boxing ring, Sheremeta entered the political arena in 2024. She ran for a seat in the Lublin Voivodeship Assembly on the far-right Confederation and Non-Party Self-Government Activists list, but her efforts fell short.
