Biography of Julie Delpy
Julie Delpy is a multi-talented French actress, director, and writer. She was born in Paris into a family of actors and it seemed that she had no other choice but to follow in her parents' footsteps. At the age of 14, she caught the attention of the renowned filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard, who cast her in his film "Detective".
After a successful debut and attending acting courses in New York, Delpy started receiving invitations from the most famous European directors, whose names sounded like music to the gifted young woman: Krzysztof Kieslowski, Bertrand Tavernier, Carlos Saura, and Volker Schlöndorff. Her career quickly took off as she was recognized at various film festivals and offered more and more roles.
Unfortunately, most of our viewers only know Julie Delpy from Krzysztof Kieslowski's "Three Colors: White" and Roger Avary's "Killing Zoe". While she delivered exceptional performances in these films, it is important not to overlook the other works of this talented actress.
In the early 1990s, Delpy moved to Manhattan, a city she had loved since her youth, and completed directing courses at a New York university. In 1995, she made her debut as a playwright and director with the short film "La-la-la" at the Sundance Film Festival. Since then, she has consistently balanced her work as an actress with directing and screenwriting.
In addition to her work in the film industry, Delpy is also a talented artist, singer, dancer, and has a passion for cooking, chess, and mathematics. With her unconventional and fragile beauty, Julie Delpy truly deserves the epithet of an ideal woman.
