Karting and Formula Ford

Julien Jousse began his racing career in karting from 1997 to 2001. In 2002, he transitioned to single-seaters, competing in the Formula Ford Kent series. He achieved three podium finishes, including one victory.

French Formula Ford and Formula Renault 2.0

In 2003, Jousse moved to the French Formula Ford Championship, where he earned only one podium and finished ninth overall. He also participated in the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch, finishing 17th.

In 2004, Jousse made the switch to the French Formula Renault 2.0 Championship with Hexis Racing. He secured one podium and finished 14th in his first season. He continued in the series in 2005, this time with SG Formula. He earned three podiums, including a victory at Magny-Cours, and finished sixth overall.

French Formula Renault 3.0 and Eurocup Formula Renault

In 2006, Jousse remained in the French Formula Renault 3.0 Championship for a third season, claiming a victory and three podiums to finish third in the standings. He also competed in two rounds of the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0.

Formula Renault 3.5

In 2007, Jousse joined Tech 1 Racing in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series. He finished tenth overall, achieving one pole position, one fastest lap, and three podiums. His teammate, Álvaro Parente, won the drivers' championship, while Tech 1 Racing claimed the teams' title.

Jousse stayed with Tech 1 Racing in 2008, partnering with Formula Renault graduate Charles Pic. He finished runner-up behind Giedo van der Garde, earning six podiums and his first series victory in the final round at Barcelona. He also helped his team secure a second consecutive teams' championship.

FIA Formula Two

After testing GP2 cars with Fisichella Motor Sport and Trident Racing, Jousse opted to join the revived FIA Formula Two Championship in 2009. He claimed his first victory in the series in the second race at Donington Park.
