Biography of Juliet Anderson

Juliet Anderson, also known as Aunt Peg, was an American actress, director, and producer of pornographic films. She was born on July 23, 1938, in Burbank, California. Her father, a jazz trumpeter, and her mother, who aspired to be an actress, influenced her love for the arts from a young age. However, Juliet's childhood was marked by her battle with Crohn's disease, which often confined her to hospitals and bed rest.

After graduating high school as one of the top students, Juliet briefly studied art at a college. She followed her military sailor lover to the Japanese city of Hayama after he was transferred there. They got married but the marriage was short-lived. Over the next 18 years, Juliet pursued various occupations, including teaching English to students in Japan, Mexico, Greece, and Finland. During her time in Miami in 1963, she worked as a secretary for an erotic film producer, a receptionist at the Burger King headquarters, and an employee at Avis.

In the early 1970s, Juliet returned to the United States and attended San Francisco State University. It was during this time that she responded to an advertisement by Alex de Renzy, who was searching for an actress for his adult films. Her porn debut came in the film "Pretty Peaches," where she appeared under the pseudonym Juliet Anderson. This name became her most famous nickname after one of her films featured a scene where her character's niece shouted, "Oh, Aunt Peg! Aunt Peg!" during orgasm.

Juliet quickly became one of the leading actresses of the "Golden Age of Porn." In addition to her film career, she posed for pornographic magazines, appeared on radio and television shows, managed a mail delivery service, a casting agency, and a "Phone Sex" service. She also went on tour, combining comedy and sex in her performances across the United States, which she considered the most enjoyable part of her career.

All of Juliet's characters were bold, unsentimental, lively, and humorous. She claimed to have never faked an orgasm in any of her films. Critics compared her to Joan Blondell of the pornographic cinema and believed that her strong, no-nonsense middle-aged women would have been a great addition to Howard Hawks' films.

In 1984, Juliet directed the film "Educating Nina" starring Nina Hartley. However, conflicts with the producer led her to leave the porn industry. She moved to Northern California and opened a massage parlor. But in 1995, she returned to porn as an actress, producer, and director. In 1998, she directed the film "Ageless Desire," featuring real couples over the age of 50, in which she also participated.

From 2009, Juliet resided in Berkeley, California, with her four cats. She continued to work in the porn industry, planned future film projects, and conducted seminars for couples on relationship matters, emphasizing the importance of gentle loving touches as a means of pleasure. She co-authored books such as "The New Sexual Healers: Women of the Light" and "The Red Thread of Passion" and wrote articles for various magazines and newspapers. Throughout her career, she appeared in a total of 124 pornographic films.

On January 11, 2010, Juliet was found dead in her bed by her friend Kevin Fong, who had come to drive her to a colonoscopy appointment. Her body was cremated, and a memorial was held on January 26 at the Center for Sex and Culture in San Francisco.

Juliet Anderson was inducted into the "Legends of Erotica" Hall of Fame in 1996, the XRCO Hall of Fame in 1999, and the AVN Hall of Fame. In 2001, she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Free Speech Coalition, and in 2007, the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality awarded her an honorary Doctor of Arts degree.
