Theater and Opera
In 1941, Vanags collaborated with F. Rokpelnis on two significant works: the play "They Paved the Way," which depicted the Latvian people's struggle for Soviet power, and the libretto for the opera "Ruta," which premiered in 1943. "Meeting on the Shore," a 1948 play, showcased the industrial recovery and the growth of socialist consciousness in Soviet Latvia. Vanags's plays found their home on the stages of the Artistic Theater in Riga and other theaters across Latvia.
