Born in Vancouver, Canada, June Havoc was a Canadian actress who made a name for herself in Hollywood. Her full name is Ellen Evangeline Havoc. From a young age, June was groomed to become a professional actress, making her first appearances on stage at the age of two. She was born on October 8, 1916, in Canada and is considered one of the finest Hollywood actresses.
Early Life and Career
June Havoc was born and raised in Vancouver. From a young age, her parents recognized her talent and nurtured her into becoming a professional actress. By the age of two, she was already performing on stage. In 1921, she became the star of the vaudeville show "Dainty Baby June and her Newsboy Songster." Her talent was evident, and she quickly gained popularity.
During her youth, June Havoc's earnings as an actress reached up to $1,500 per week. As she grew older, she captivated audiences all across the United States. Her mother encouraged her to conquer the world, leading her to tour with her vaudeville shows internationally, where she was always welcomed with great honor and warmth.
However, by the end of the 1920s, June Havoc's popularity drastically declined. Additionally, she began to exhibit a difficult personality during this period. At the age of 16, she even left home. June forged documents and married a dancer named Bobby Reed. Their marriage ended in a year, and the former "star" of the United States began dancing in strip clubs.
A New Chapter
In 1933, June Havoc made a life-changing decision. She participated in a dance marathon and became its record holder in 1934. However, after this victory, the dancer spent two weeks in the intensive care unit. In 1936, she made her mark on the Broadway stage, starring in the musical "Forbidden Melody." In 1940, she achieved fame in the project "Pal Joey" before confidently returning to the world of Hollywood.
Upon her return to the film industry, June Havoc wanted to leave her past behind. She changed her last name from Havoc to Havik and began acting again. She appeared in films such as "My Sister Eileen," "Hello, Frisco, Hello," "No Time for Love," "Hi Diddle Diddle," "Brewster's Millions," "Gentleman's Agreement," and "When My Baby Smiles at Me." However, Hollywood decided to let go of the actress, prompting her to continue her career on Broadway.
In 1959, June Havoc released her autobiography, shedding light on her life and career. In 1962, she published her novel, "Marathon '33'." While she pursued writing, the Broadway stage seemed to forget about the talented actress. In 1988, she played her last role, and since then, no one knows the whereabouts of June Havoc. It is possible that she may no longer be alive, but neither her close friends nor relatives have been able to confirm or deny this fact.
