Early Life and Career

Levens grew up in a poor neighborhood in Philadelphia and had to rely on himself from a young age. Eventually, he moved to Newport Beach, California, where he learned to channel his aggression into professional fighting competitions. He began training at Marco Ruas Vale Tudo Academy in Orange County and quickly became skilled in mixed martial arts.

From 2004 to 2008, Levens fought in various competitions, often using the nickname 'Executioner.' He won his first fight against Hector Carrillo and remained undefeated for the next two years. However, in January 2006, he suffered his first loss to Scott Smith. Despite a few consecutive wins in the fall of 2006 against Justin Haeves and Brian Warren, his career gradually declined.

Personal Struggles

Levens' last scheduled fight was in July 2008, but it did not take place due to scheduling issues. Later, oxymorphone was found in his system, leading to his suspension from fighting until January 2009. Levens was reportedly troubled by the direction of his career, financial difficulties, and the suicide of his fellow mixed martial arts fighter and friend, Jeremy Williams.

Tragic End

On December 17, 2008, Levens and his wife, Sara McLean-Levens, were found dead in their home in Laguna Niguel, California. Both had suffered gunshot wounds, with Levens having a gunshot wound to the head. A gun was found near his body, and no signs of a struggle were found at the scene. The police believe that a murder-suicide occurred, with Levens being the perpetrator.

The circumstances surrounding their deaths are still under investigation by the police. The tragic end of Justin Levens' life shocked the martial arts community and left many wondering about the underlying issues he faced.
