Roddy Piper, born Roderick George Toombs on April 17, 1954, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, is best known as a professional wrestler and actor. He gained popularity in the wrestling world due to his scandalous, vibrant, and imposing personality. Piper was often seen wearing a Scottish kilt during his performances.

Early Life and Education

Piper spent his childhood in Winnipeg and graduated from Windsor University. His father worked as a programmer for CN Rail.

Wrestling Career

Piper began his wrestling career at the age of 16, making him the youngest fighter in the history of professional wrestling. He made his debut against Larry Hennig. Prior to wrestling, Piper had a professional boxing career and even won the "Golden Gloves" prize. He also achieved a black belt in judo at the American Judo Championship. Piper trained under Tony Condello and Bret Hart. He performed under various pseudonyms such as "The Masked Canadian," "Piper Machine," "Hot Rod," "The Hot Scot," and "The Rowdy Scot." Some of Piper's signature moves included the "Sleeper," "Eye Poke," "Bulldog," "Running Knee Lift," "Atomic Drop," and "Swinging Neckbreaker." He was part of groups such as "Hail to the Chief," "Piper's Palace," and "The Army of Darkness." Personal Life and Health

In 2007, Piper announced on his official website that he had been diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease. He underwent radiation therapy in January 2007 and spent some time under close medical observation. In 2008, a video of Piper smoking marijuana was circulated on the internet. He explained that the drugs helped him cope with his cancer.
